Ouch!

Well Layla's 2 month appointment was this morning and it was just as horrible as I expected. She was due to start her vaccinations which was a real debate for Juan and I. We definetly wanted to vaccinate her but weren't sure as to who's schedule. After speaking with our doctor and doing some more research, we decided to do the normal vaccination schedule which meant this little girl had to have 4 shots and one oral vaccination. She was not a happy girl and ended up working herself up so much that she threw up all over her and I. You think I would learn by now to always keep an extra outfit around but I never seem to! I guess I am still figuring out this whole motherhood thing!

The other news is that we have some serious physical therapy to do at home with this little girl to strengthen the other side of her neck. She has always favored turning her head to one side and it is really strong on that side (thus my c-section). So now we have to hold her head down flat for 2 minutes at a time 15 times a day. Hopefully this will work and therefore avoid the possibility of her having to wear a helmet to correct it. 2 minutes is a long time when you have a screaming baby but I will take that over the alternative!

Here is another shot of her serious thighs! She is almost 14 pounds and 23 inches! That puts her in the 95th percentile for weight and 75th percentile for height. She is one healthy girl!

This news made me sad too! She don't need no stinkin helmet. But I love her even if she needs one. poor baby had a ruff day. And come on Ray, remember the extra outfit you don't want to have naked baby somewhere else do you? Love you guys and give Layla three kisses for me.

I don't want my Layla to hurt. I would be very happy to come to her and hold her head. Tell her how much I love her and give her hugs and kisses from me

Wow.. I am sorry. Vaccinations can be so controversial and I understand the debate first hand as my mother in law is completely 100 percent against them. Glad you and Juan are thoughtful about it. My only recommendation is to ensure that Layla is healthy when you take her in to get them. For some reason, I have come across numerous parents that give their child vaccinations when the little one is fighting a cold or something else. They do it just because it is the schedule or because the doctor said to do it. I believe this is one of the reasons why there are numerous complications with some of the vaccines. You know what is best for your child and when you and her are both prepared to get them. Thank goodness for ibuprofin. I just got done with the Kindergarten shots, so I am good with my kiddies till Jr. High. Phew!

I love her! Sorry about the shots. Believe it or not I was a little nervous about vaccinating baby #8. But all is fine. I usually try to give tylenol before we get out of the car to go into the doctor's office. It seems to work pretty well. That, and a little nursey nurse after shots to calm them down. Keep up the good work with the neck therapy. 2 minutes IS a long time!
