Breakfast with the Elephants

Last week we woke up bright and early to meet friends at the zoo and have breakfast with the Elephants. We walked to a cute little area to have some breakfast. Then there were lots of fun elephant activities for the kids to do. After that we walked down to the elephant exhibit. The kids got to hide special cookies for the elephants to find. I was hoping there would be a little more interaction with the elephants (we only got to see them from far away) but I am sure it was a safety issue. Layla and her friend Trey still had a great time.

37 weeks

Last week (at 36 weeks) I was dilated 2-3cm and 60% effaced. I was/am a bit nervous because Juan is traveling a ton over the next two weeks. We are really hoping this baby girl stays put in my belly till Daddy is done with his travels. I want her to put on some more weight too!! Luckily we have great friends on standby just in case!!

Layla's first haircut

Layla's friend Trey was nice enough to share his auntie with Layla. I have been wanting/needing to get Layla's hair cut forever. I don't mind the length of her hair but it was in need of some serious "shaping up." I have been so nervous to go somewhere and just have anyone do it. I knew I wanted someone who would know how to cut curly hair so it wouldn't get butchered. Luckily Trey's aunt does hair and has been cutting his for a long time. I knew we were in good hands. Layla was so good and sat super still while her hair was cut. Shamara just shaped it up a bit and it looks really good!

Getting ready for baby

Even Layla helped get in on the preparations for our new pending arrival. She was very thorough in checking Daddy's screw tightening skills. Gotta make sure her baby sister will be safe.

At my 36 week appointment we are 2-3 cm dilated and 60% effaced. Juan is traveling a lot for the next two weeks so we are hoping this baby girl stays put for another 2 weeks!

Date night!!

Another advantage of having Kacie in town!! Our first double date with Cary and Rocky ever! Juan and Rocky get together and Cary and I get together but never the four of us without kiddos. So fun to have actual conversations without interruptions!

Pool Time

Kacie is here in town helping get the girls new rooms finished. Thought I would let her take a break from this......
and enjoy the beautiful weather we have right now. Joyce, Brooklyn and Mckinley joined us there as well.

The girls had so much fun playing together. Mckinley is the cutest ever and doesn't realize she is only one and so tiny. She was giving the "big" kids a run for their money in the splash pad.

Oh yes I rocked the belly at the pool!! Lots of girls in this picture!!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day was really nice. Juan woke up and made a wonderful breakfast of eggs, potatoes, meat, and tons of yummy fruit. He had made brunch reservations but after working so much lately all I wanted to do was relax for the day! After breakfast I opened up my fun new gift.....a Coach diaper bag. Might as well look good carrying around a diaper bag! Layla took a nice long nap so I grabbed a quick one as well. I was hoping to get to float around the pool for a bit but when I woke up from napping it was super windy. Oh well. Then Juan bbq'd chicken and steak kabobs. Tasty! I am so fortunate to be Layla (and little baby girl to be's) mommy. Definetly challenging at times but I would never change it for the world. I also feel so blessed to have such a wonderful partner and husband who really loves and appreciates me.

Juan's mud run

Juan did his first mud run. I had heard about this race a few months ago but since I didn't think they would let a big pregnant girl participate I talked Juan into doing it. He and a co-worker and his wife ran it together and had a blast! The race is a 5k and has 11 obstacle courses to run through. I can't wait to do it next year!

All clean before the race
Nice and muddy

Dressing up Bailey

Bailey is such a good sport. She just loves Layla and lets her do whatever she wants. The other day I found her walking around with a necklace on. Layla had been playing dress up and decided to dress up Bailey too. Almost as funny as the time I found Bailey sleeping with two pink shoes on her front paws. I was so sad I didn't have my camera to get a picture of that!
