Christmas 2008

We had such a great time visiting our families in Utah for Christmas. It was really snowy and really cold. Layla did such a good job in the car for the ride there and back. It was so fun for Layla to spend time with all of her family. She is one lucky lady to have so many people love her.

A big week

This has been a big week of milestones for our little girl. First off, she is sleeping in her crib..... in her own room. I was so reluctant to get her out of the cradle even thought she was entirely too big for it. I was heartbroken when Juan took it apart. It was very convenient and comforting to have her right there next to me all night. But it really was time and now the cradle is available for the next baby.

Her room is right next door to ours and of course I am in there quite a bit as she learns to sleep in her crib. She is also learning that she doesn't need to nurse so much during the night. I am still working on convincing her of that.

At Layla's 4 month checkup this week, our doctor said that we could start to slowly introduce some rice cereal into her diet. She suggested that we try it for dinner and hopefully fill her belly up enough to get her to start to sleep through the night without waking to nurse. She did such a good job using her tongue and swallowing! She was over it after a few bites but Juan and I were so proud of her.

"ok Mom and Dad. I am ready to try this out!"

"What the....."

"are you sure this is a good idea Daddy?"

4 month old checkup!

Tuesday was Layla's 4 month doctors appointment (she was actually 4 months and 5 days old). She is weighing in at 16 pounds 11.5 ounces and is 26 inches tall. She is in the 95th percentile for height and weight. Our doctor said she was "thriving" and that made us feel great because we can't get enough of her rolls. I am so glad she is healthy. Another round of shots were no fun :(

Every baby girl needs her own pink Christmas tree!

We were so lucky to have the Hess family visit for Thanksgiving. We spent Thanksgiving day cooking up a storm. We were in charge of all the sides for Thanksgiving dinner with the Wurtz's and DeSchepper's. Lori and I made Kacie's famous rolls and they turned out awesome! Kevin didn't think we were going to pull it off so he went to the store to buy back up rolls. Needless to say, those were thrown away. I am so proud of us Lori! Those rolls are no easy feat. The Hess' were only here for 2 days but we managed to have some fun and some delicious protein pancakes. We love when family comes to visit.
