Tatum's 9 month checkup

Hard to believe this little one is already 9 months old. Tatum's 9 mo checkup was a couple weeks late so she is technically 9 1/2 months. She only had to have 1 shot this time which was nice, although she did not appreciate it at all. She is in the 90th percentile for height and weight and weighs in at a little over 22 pounds.
Tay had to have her ears flushed out because there was quite a bit of wax in them (since she has had so many ear infections I hardly touch them anymore!). She was none to happy about having that done, although I really wanted mine done after watching. It looked refreshing!
Tatum is a much happier baby as she gets older although she can still throw quite a fit and really dislikes her carseat. She eats pretty well and prefers to eat small pieces of food rather than baby food. She can say "Mama, Dada, Dog" and I swear she says "Ah" for Layla. She also says "go, go, go" when she dances. Too cute! She is a big fan of blankies just like Layla! If she sees another baby with her same muslin blankets she will try to steal them. She tries to take Layla's blankets away from her too so Layla calls her "swiper." Still no crawling but she does move around a bit on her tummy. I keep thinking she will crawl any day now but still nothing! Sleep is still a work in progress since she wakes up a few times a night to nurse but happily she goes to sleep on her own and I love that!!
So fun watching this baby grow!

Soccer Girl

Layla started soccer last week. Since summer is around the corner it was definetly time to start (we can't be outside much longer!). She was so excited to play and we were excited for her to get some exercise and make new friends. She has 4 other kids on her team and they are the Fire Bugs! She had a blast at her first practice and was super excited for her first game on Saturday.

I thought Layla was so so cute in her soccer gear! She was really into the game and there was no "flower picking" or "butterfly chasing" going on. It was really warm out and she did a lot of running around but had the biggest smile on her face the whole time.

So proud of our Soccer Girl!!

Cool Trick!

Layla is so excited that she is tall enough to get her own drink of water from the fridge!

Swimming in March

The weather was so nice over spring break. The pool that we love to go to was open and heated so I decided to brave the pool with both girls by myself!

All loaded up in the car (in matching swimsuits of course!)

I strapped Tatum into my fabric sling and it worked out perfectly!

Layla was so excited and had a blast. She did such a great job of listening and staying right by me the whole time.

Tatum absolutely loved splashing in the water!!
We sure are spoiled during spring time here in Arizona!

Wicked!!

Kathy and I went to see Wicked over the weekend. We absolutely looooove this show and it was our 5th time seeing it together!! We don't get to spend as much time together as we would like between her crazy work schedule and my two little ones. It was such a fun day! Can't wait till next year.

The girls had fun spending the day with Daddy. Layla wanted to have a picnic on a blanket outside for lunch. Its a good thing Tatum is finally eating some solid foods now because I was gone for 6 hours!! A super nice (and much needed) break for this mommy!

She eats!

Tatum has finally started eating solids a bit. She seems to prefer the green veggie/fruit mixed (peas, pears and spinach, etc.) vs. plain fruits. I have been mixing her foods with oatmeal cereal to make it more of a meal. She is also enjoying eating puffs but her new love is nawing on a graham cracker. She really loooooves a sippy cup of water and gets herself super wet. She is still nursing a whole lot which is just fine with me. Keeping those healthy pounds on her.
She had her visit with the home health care nurse from the state the other day (babies in Arizona who spent longer than a week in the nicu get a visit from a nurse for a year!). She weighed 21 pounds 8 oz. I will take her in for her 9 month check up next week and see how accurate the nurse's scale was. She is one big girl! In other news, she is a bit lazy in the movement department. She tested in the "gray" area for gross motor skills. This little girl prefers to live on my hip. I am not too worried about her....she will get moving when she is ready.

New York!

Layla packed up all her babies (and bunny) for their trip to "New York." I love that she even packed them some orange juice in the side of her back pack in case they got hungry! She has such a fun imagination.
